Senior Dispensary Pharmacist

As an experienced pharmacist with extensive hospital dispensary experience, you will lead on all aspects of medicines optimisation and medication use within the pharmacy dispensaries across North Tees & Hartlepool.

You will support medical and nursing teams, as well as allied health professionals in the safe and effective use of medicines. You will manage and deliver services in accordance with relevant professional, ethical and legal standards and locally agreed policies, procedures and guidelines. The post holder will make essential contributions to the delivery of the daily workflow in the inpatient dispensaries, ensuring outstanding quality services for patients, hospital staff and other service users.

Main duties of the job

Through excellent leadership skills, you will be expected to co-ordinate and participate in the day to day management of the pharmacy dispensaries, contributing to professional, clinical and accuracy checking of prescriptions received into the pharmacy, providing advice to service users, leading on investigations of errors and implementing service improvements when necessary. Working within and leading a small pharmacy team, you will use appropriate skill mix within the team to ensure that key performance metrics are met and the service runs safely and efficiently.

The modernisation, improvement and development of medicines supply, as an aspect of medicines management, is the key to achieving our vision for the future of pharmacy services. We will achieve this through the extensive use of digital technologies and IT solutions, and by developing and valuing our colleagues. This post leads on and delivers pharmacy services via the Trust dispensaries, providing error management, intervention feedback, procedure formulation and training.
