Main duties of the job

This is an established post to facilitate the delivery of benign gynaecological services (particularly endoscopic surgery), to impart training and to enhance research activity of the department. The candidate is also expected to support maternity service by participating in emergency on-call rota and attending antenatal clinics.

The candidate will be encouraged to gain / improve surgical skills in advanced gynaecological endoscopy. It may be possible to offer Endometriosis / Laparoscopy / Hysteroscopy related RCOG Advanced Skill Modules to a deserving candidate. Candidate will be supported by clinical training if he / she wishes to gain a higher university qualification or European qualification in advanced endoscopic surgery.

The selected candidate will work in the middle grade level within the North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust for emergency on call duties in general Obstetrics and Gynaecology. In addition to the area of special interest, candidates will be expected to attend Antenatal and General Gynaecology clinics. It is expected that the candidate will be able to do some clinics / theatre sessions with indirect supervision in due course. He / She will contribute actively to the endometriosis centre work, attending the clinics and regular theatre sessions.

The candidate will be involved in cross-site working and will support the on-call rota.
