A part of the Screening and Symptomatic service is provided at Hartlepool which houses an Ultrasound room, a mammomat Revelation mammography unit and Breast MRI facilities. Overall the service runs 9 Mammomat revelation mammography units over 3 static sites and 4 mobile vans.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will undertake a minimum of 5 PAs of breast radiology. Candidates who wish to work entirely within Breast Radiology or those who wish for a more mixed Breast/General Radiology role will be considered. Duties of the General Radiology role would include participation in the general radiology on call service (currently 1:11), supported by overnight outsourcing (Nighthawk). Candidates employed wholly or predominantly within Breast Radiology will not be expected to participate in out of hours provision.

The post is subject to the Terms and Conditions of Service - Consultants England (2003). You must be fully registered with the General Medical Council (London) and be on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of entry onto CCT at the time of appointment. Flexible job plans will be considered, including sessions at other centres to support research and expertise sharing opportunities.

This appointment is subject to an Enhanced Level Disclosure Barring Service check.

The appointee will be expected to share the aspirations of the other radiologists to provide a wide ranging, high quality imaging service to patients within the Trust.

Breast Radiology Duties:

The Directorate is committed to ensuring equitable working conditions for all Consultants.

A formal job plan will be agreed between the appointee and their Clinical Director, on behalf of the Medical Director, 3 months after the commencement date of the appointee.

The basic job plan (full time) involves working a core rota of 9am-5pm Monday-Friday with an on call frequency of 1:11 (currently). Flexible job plans will be supported wherever the service allows, including sessions at other screening centres to support research and expertise sharing opportunities.

Applicants wishing to work on a part-time basis will be considered and a suitable work programme negotiated.
