Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Human Resources/Workforce Advisor to support a collaborative working project across both North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust and South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The role will be a joint role with South Tees. The successful candidate will be employed by North Tees NHS Foundation Trust or South Tees NHS Foundation Trust depending on preferred base location of the candidate.

Community Diagnostic Centres aim to enhance diagnostic service capacity for current and future demand through the development of a hub and spoke service delivery model. providing greater choice to our patients. It will be responsive to the geographic and health needs of the local population, by increasing accessibility and reducing health inequalities

Working closely with the Project Manager, the post-holder will assist the Workforce Business Managers / Human Resource Business Partners and broader project management teams in the delivery of key result areas by providing comprehensive project based activity and general people management advice and support to the Community Diagnostic Centres (CDC) programme the post holder will provide workforce based solutions, data management, tracking and workforce planning services to the programme.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be flexible with regards to covering across both Trusts, both physically and virtually. The post holder will have a choice of substantive base, these being North Tees University Hospital or James Cook University Hospital. Whilst operational HR experience would be beneficial it is not essential to this specific project role.

The ability to develop effective working relationships with all stakeholders quickly is key to this role as you will be supporting colleagues through organisational change. You will need to be able to manage your own time well, prioritise tasks and have an eye for detail. Ideally you will have supported pieces of large scale project or change management work before or be able to effectively demonstrate how you would scale up previous organisational change programme experience. You will have experience of working with both unions and professional bodies.

NHS experience is beneficial although not essential, so too experience of working closely with both unions and professional bodies.

The successful candidate will be qualified to CIPD Level 5 or working towards the qualification or possess demonstrable equivalent experience.

The post is a fixed term post and will be for a period of up to 12 months and is up to full time (37.5 hours).

The post holder will be required to travel across the two Trusts for attendance at discussions, formal meetings and one-to-one sessions. There may be opportunities for home working.

This is a varied role where the successful candidate will need to be able to multi- task, have excellent planning & time management skills, be a team player and be prepared to move seamlessly from one task to another, in what is a busy environment. Key responsibilities include:

  • To provide day to day operational support, advice and guidance to staff and managers within the Trust as part of the CDC programme.
  • Facilitate and be responsible for recruitment and staff development mapping, establishment mapping and recruitment tracking in support of the programme.
  • Regularly using NHS Jobs and Trac applicant tracking systems.
  • To work with colleagues in delivering change management as part of the programme.
  • To actively participate in the work streams aligned to the programme providing input, guidance and advice to managers on specialised recruitment campaigns, staff engagement and people development in line with Trust and NHS standards and guidance.
  • To actively participate in recruitment activity such as interviews and recruitment centres.
  • Able to support the development of workforce strategies and participate in task and finish groups as an active contributing participant.
  • Development of effective inter personal relationships across physical and organisational boundaries.
  • Comfortable and able to work collaboratively with physically remote stakeholders using Outlook and MS Teams technologies.
  • Able to effectively and proactively manage your own workload whilst also supporting stakeholders in the delivery of key pieces of work to deadlines.

  • Demonstrate standard keyboard skills.
  • Support in the development of job descriptions, person specifications and job evaluation processes (job matching panels etc.) as required in support of the programme.
  • Works within workforce policies and procedures, operating on own initiative, escalating/referring matters to line manager as necessary.
  • Normal combination of sitting, standing, walking etc. Occasional light physical effort required when collating/delivering case files.
  • Occasional requirement for prolonged concentration e.g. writing investigation reports, participating in investigation/disciplinary/grievance/capability procedures etc.
  • Occasional exposure to distressing or emotional circumstances when imparting unwelcome news to staff.
