Job summary

The post holder will provide operational leadership and management to the designated teams within the directorate ensuring the delivery of Performance & Business Intelligence.

The role will require the ability of the post holder to deliver on key result areas, whilst exercising problem solving, analytical and judgement skills within agreed timeframes to achieve results. This will be undertaken whilst working under pressure and managing competing priorities.

Working in partnership with other members of the Directorate Management Team, the post holder will promote effective governance and ensure that the highest standard are delivered.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will focus on key areas of delivery in the main but not exhaustive of:

  • Provision of a robust suite of performance reports and the provision of full analysis, forecasting and trajectories of improvement across of standards
  • Ensure that Business Intelligence platform is developed to provide easily accessible and meaningful data and information
  • Ensure the provision of one dataset used by all in response to all local and national requirements
  • The post holder will communicate with internal staff and external agencies to ensure delivery of performance standards and planning objectives.
  • Take the lead on ensuring the accurate monitoring and reporting of key KPIs against national and local targets and for developing structured, streamlined monitoring and reporting processes.
  • Be the Directorate deputy lead for Emergency Preparedness, Resilience and Response (EPRR)
  • Provide support to organisation Manager on Call rota

  • Responsible for internal performance management arrangements; development and maintenance of a robust performance management framework to ensure achievement of access and NHS standards
  • Responsible for developing frameworks to support clinical and process outcome measures in line with the NHS Oversight Framework and other national recommendations/ initiatives such as the Annual Planning Guidance.
  • Lead for overall performance monitoring, reporting and delivery to timescales, including the annual business planning cycle and supporting the regulatory submissions
  • Consolidate links with the Care Group Directors and their teams to ensure the provision, analysis and utilisation of relevant information to inform decision making in operational and service performance management
  • Provide timely and relevant performance monitoring reports against the Risk Assessment Framework, Care Quality Commission standards and key clinical and process outcomes along with recommendations for remedial actions
  • Support corporate and care group management teams to deliver service redesign projects that deliver improved clinical outcomes for patients, reduced waiting times and more efficient use of resources
  • Working in conjunction with Finance Management, Workforce Development and Quality to lead on a coordinated approach to Performance Reviews
  • Develop a culture, knowledgeable in compliance requirements around service developments and financial performance and effective governance arrangements

  • Masters Degree in an appropriate discipline and / or evidence of a postgraduate qualification/ or Professional Registration
  • Evidence of continuous personal and professional development

Desirable

  • Further management qualification
  • Prince 2 or service improvement experience

  • Significant change and /or management experience within clinical and/or across organisational services in the NHS.
  • Demonstrable understanding of NHS policy in relation to performance management and capacity planning
  • Knowledge of Risk Assessment Framework and impact on approach to performance management and development
