Job summary
Applications are invited for a Consultant in Palliative Medicine working across North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust. (PA's will be worked across Hospital and Community settings, providing support to hospices locally also.) Alongside the other Palliative Consultants, the post holder will be responsible for providing expert strategic support to the clinical lead and give advice and clinical review of patients referred to the Specialist Palliative Care Team. The successful candidate(s) would be offered up to 6PAs.
This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious doctor to build on the excellent work the existing Specialist Palliative Care Team at the North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust have been doing and to join a friendly, innovative and supportive Team.
The Specialist Palliative Care Team provides support for the full range of clinical teams working across the Trust. We are dynamic and cohesive team consisting of Consultants, Lead Nurse, Nurse Consultant, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapist and therapy assistants.
Main duties of the job
This post is pivotal to the continued development and quality of Palliative Medicine at North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust and will support and enhance the existing consultant team.
We would be happy to consider candidates wanting to work part time or job share.
The successful candidate would be expected to work with the local and existing wider teams in providing inpatient and out of hospital management for patients with specialist palliative care needs, and to participate in teaching programmes led by the team.
We already work closely alongside colleagues in acute medicine, frailty, critical care , acute oncology and front of house services , have representation at all cancer body MDT's and work collaboratively with community colleagues to promote patient centred, individualised care provision and planning. The role will support ongoing projects, initiatives and service developments such as the AMBER care bundle, Palcall, deciding right, future care planning and promoting the improvement of palliative services across the locality and region, with a focus on how enhanced supportive care priorities and end of life care guidance can be integrated into the Population Heath framework and agenda.
