Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Medical Secretary/Patient Pathway Coordinator in the Diabetes and Endocrinology Department within General Medicine. We are looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic highly motivated, hardworking individual to join a busy, friendly and dedicated team.

Main duties of the job

The job role will be varied. You will need to provide a wide range of comprehensive administrative and clerical duties to a team of Consultants, Specialist Nurses and Junior Doctors. You will need to be reliable and hard working with excellent communication and IT skills. You will be expected to work as a team member but also as an individual using your own initiative.

  • Experience of a range of secretarial procedures.
  • Advanced keyboard skills, with knowledge of Microsoft products.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines using own initiative
  • Able to remain calm in a busy environment when working under pressure.
  • Able to make judgements involving a range of facts, that require analysis
  • Ability to organise a number of complex activities.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organisations skills.

Desirable

  • Previous NHS experience. Experience of managing patient pathways and waiting lists.
  • Minimum of 2 years' secretarial experience.
  • Skills in NHS computer software

  • Computer literate including Word and Excel and excellent keyboard skills
