Job summary
The Department of Anaesthesia & Perioperative Medicine is looking to a recruita Specialist in Anaesthesia to join our team of dedicated senior clinicians. Thesuccessful Specialist will work independently alongside Consultant colleagues toprovide the highest quality of care to all of our patients. The successfulcandidate must have 12 years of experience since their primary qualification andat least 6 years working as an Anaesthetist. This post is based at QEQM Hospital,Margate with the opportunity to work across all three hospital sites.
Main duties of the job
You will join an established team of Consultants with several Specialists and Specialty Doctorssupporting all general services of the hospital including the Emergency department, Theatrescovering maternity, Gynaecology, Orthopaedic and trauma, major colorectal surgery andpreassessment.o You will work unsupervised while in theatres.o You will provide supervision and education of resident doctorso Involvement in undergraduate and post-graduate medical education.o Lead tutorials and Department meetings, in rotation with consultant colleagueso Assessment and preparation of patients for theatre and provision of immediate postoperativecare.o Participate in and actively present during clinical audit.o Demonstrate evidence-based practice where appropriate.o Undertake and participate in the appraisal process and job planning.o Satisfy the criteria for revalidation.o Contribute to leadership service development in areas of special interest and expertise.o Actively participate in continuing medical education.o Undertake personal appraisal and job-planning as part of revalidation.o Maintain all mandatory training requirements.

Essential
- Full GMC Registrations and license to practice.
- Minimum of 12 years medical experience since primary medical qualification.
- Minimum of 6 years' experience as SAS grade or equivalent in Anaesthesia.
- Provides safe and effective general and regional Anaesthesia, and procedural sedation, independently, for all patients.
Desirable
- Demonstrates ability to provide safe and effective immediate care for patients of all ages.
- Higher academic qualification (e.g. MD or MS).
- ALS, ATLS/TTM and APLS.
- Qualification in teaching (Diploma or higher)
- FRCA or an equivalent higher anaesthetic qualification.
Skills and Experience

- Minimum of 12 years medical experience (either continuous period or in aggregate) since obtaining a primary medical qualification.
- Minimum of six years in anaesthetics in the Specialty Doctor grade or equivalent and or close SAS Grades.

- Provides safe and effective care for critically ill patients with specialist help and guidance.
- Ability to lead resuscitation teams safely and transfer critically ill patients.
- Communicates effectively with patients, relatives and carers.
- Capable of working with patients to reduce the risk of surgery.
- Previous experience of working in the NHS.
