An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist in Stroke Care, to join our comprehensive therapy team,
The stroke service is currently provided at the Kent and Canterbury Hospital. The current strategic plan is for the Stroke Service to move to a new build at the William Harvey Hospital in 2027.
For this post we require your enthusiasm, motivation and passion to help deliver a patient focused service which is based on evidence with the patient at the core of every aspect of their own pathway. The post holder will be expected to contribute to the visions and values of our speciality and the Trust. They will not only work autonomously, managing their own caseload, but work as a team member ensuring timely communication and collaborative working across many services.
As part of the Stroke workforce development, we are looking to provide comprehensive Stroke rehabilitation across 7 days and the post holder will be expected to contribute to 7 day working.
Main duties of the job
Band 7 Occupational Therapists work closely with all users of our services and their families, friends and carers who all play an invaluable contribution in how our users experience our services. Band 7
Main duties of the role:-

To provide day to day ward leadership for the Occupational Therapy services across the Stroke Wards within EKHUFT. You will be working collaboratively with the Physiotherapists and Speech and Language Therapy Team to support the wider stroke therapy workforce.

To provide a key focus for therapeutic clinical expertise, high quality advice and support to the multi-disciplinary team

To help the clinical lead plan, develop, optimise and evaluate the stroke therapy service and all its processes

To establish and develop sound communication networks, along with other clinical specialists across the Health Economy, in order to provide a high quality, efficient service.

Alongside the APTs, Clinical Leads and Site Leads, you will be expected to ensure clinical governance targets are met, including the development of clinical standards and protocols, specialist evidence-based practice, audit, research, clinical and non-clinical risk management.

The hospital has strong links with Christchurch University in Canterbury and supports Occupational Therapy student's placements. In conjunction with the MDT, you will be expected to develop and deliver postgraduate training relevant to the clinical specialty.
