Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated individual to join our musculoskeletal physiotherapy team. We are looking for a new Band 6 MSK Physiotherapist to provide advanced physiotherapy assessment and management of patients with a wide range of spinal and peripheral conditions. You will be working in a busy, friendly outpatient department seeing both GP and Consultant referrals.

The post holder will be expected to provide regular post graduate training within their clinical specialty and work alongside Band 7s to complete some departmental managerial duties. The Trust has an excellent appraisal scheme and offers regular CPD training.

If you are interested in working in a busy acute hospital without the hassle of living in an expensive and hectic major city, this may be the post for you. Dover is a traditional seaside town in the heart of Kent, which is in the midst of a cultural renaissance. Dover's location on the East Kent Coast makes London and France easily achievable in a day, as well as the surrounding but varied seaside towns including vibrant Margate and arty Folkestone. With immediate access to lovely beaches, iconic coastlines and countryside, a variety of small towns within easy reach and reasonable rents and house prices for the South East of England, this area may be what you are looking for. We can normally offer temporary, on-site shared accommodation for an initial period.

Main duties of the job

The applicant will have developed a good amount of post-graduate experience working as a physiotherapist, ideally including an extended period working in a musculoskeletal setting.

The applicant will have developed their skills in both assessing and managing patients with a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions, both acute and chronic, spinal and peripheral.

Having developed these skills, the applicant will be keeping up-to-date with best evidence based practice and demonstrated the ability to autonomously manage their caseload in a fast-paced environment and with good time management.

The applicant will both benefit from the expertise from other clinicians, including training from a range of specialities as well as providing support and training for their peers.

About us

The highly experienced team consists of a Band 7 and a Band 8 with special interests in developing research and aquatherapy, as well as 1 therapy support worker. You will also work closely with the well established MSK teams working at different sites in East Kent Hospitals, including advanced practitioners in Shoulder, Spines, Rheumatology, Lower Limb and Hand therapy and share the department with a neurological outpatient physiotherapy team.

The departments across the Trust are proactive and involved in various research which facilitates an innovative and energised atmosphere for personal development.
