Job summary
The Renal Administration and Clerical team are a forward-thinking team with our patients at the heart of everything that we do...!! We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join the team as Administrator within the Renal Department at Kent & Canterbury Hospital.
We require a high standard of organisational skills in order to provide an efficient medical secretary and administrative service to the Renal Consultants and the Team. This role will keep you both busy and challenged.You must be highly motivated with excellent communication skills, an ability to use your own initiative and work well under pressure. You will be adaptable, reliable and a proven team member with good qualifications and/or experience. Knowledge of working in a hospital environment and medical terminology is desirable. You will be working with a wide range of people and communicating with both patients and staff, therefore empathy and patience is essential for this role
You will be joining a well-established and passionate team who support each other in the day to take management of duties and tasks. We look forward to you becoming part of the Renal Team.
Main duties of the job
To undertake clerical and administrative duties
Collecting, sorting and the opening of post
Print and process patient referrals received via the Electronic Referral System and register on database for the Consultant to triage.
Monitor Advice & Guidance requests received from GP surgeries via Electronic Referral System and process in a timely manner.
Audio type all clinical letters and other correspondence as required by the consultant and team, ensuring layout, spelling, grammar and punctuation is consistent.
Assess all enquiries and deal with effectively and respond appropriately
The maintenance of department stationery, office supplies requirement and stationery storeroom
Make appointments as appropriate, in line with government and local targets and trust policy, procedure and guidance. Where this is not achievable, give notification promptly to line manager.
To cover Renal Outpatients Reception in absence of receptionist
