Job summary
The William Harvey is the dedicated Trauma Unit site within EKHUFT. The Trauma Unit forms part of the SELKaM Trauma Network with Kings College as the region's Trauma Centre. The ward is a diverse and multicultural learning environment. Encouraging innovation and improving the experience of our patients has and continues to be the philosophy and embedded practice of the ward.
Kings D1 ward is a 24 bedded ward, mainly dealing with silver trauma and Medicine. We will have both male and female beds, we have a multi cultural staffing
Main duties of the job
The post holder will have 24-hour responsibility for the standards of care
- Demonstrating safe, effective and person centred leadership to patients and staff role modelling the Trust's mission and values.
- Leading safe patient care through surgical, orthopaedic pathway
- Work in conjunction with colleagues in surgery, medicine and ED to embed safe transfers to ward/unit areas, 'getting it right first time' to enable early supported discharges
- Embed effective management of clinical and non-clinical risk reporting to the Manager within the Directorate Clinical Governance Framework.
The post holder will support new ways of working that emphasises a more efficient and patient focused service, and will ensure the safe treatment, referral and discharge of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed presentations in their area.
Responsibility for leading the on-going development of clinical practice and standards of care within the service, including the development of policies, procedures, protocols and guidelines in collaboration with multidisciplinary colleagues.
