Case Allocation Manager for Cellular Pathology

East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust

The closing date is 10 October 2024

Job summary

A fixed term opportunity has arisen at EKHUFT for a new role as Case Allocation Manager, predominantly to support the histopathology service within Cellular Pathology with the implementation of a points based caseload distribution of diagnostic work to its medical staffing. This will include digital distribution as digital pathology rolls out within both the EKHUFT team and the wider Kent and Medway Pathology Network. After the 1 year fixed term period and on the proviso that the fixed term period has been successful, funding will be sought to make the position substantive.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the team within Pathology at the EKHUFT Trust and to help shape future strategy and services for our local population. Our laboratory is positioned within the beautiful garden of England within close reach of the Kentish Coast, London and the continent, supported by excellent transport links. All in all, a great place to work, to live, to raise a family and to achieve a positive work life balance.

Main duties of the job

Cellular Pathology is based at the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford, providing a wide range of cellular diagnostics in a team based environment.

Kent and Medway Pathology Network is a formal partnership of seven laboratories across three pathology services in four acute Trusts. Our 800 colleagues provide services across the health and care sector to a population of nearly 2 million.

The successful applicant will ideally have demonstrable experience in a UKAS accredited laboratory and have a clear understanding of the issues at play within a busy multi-disciplinary diagnostic service. The successful candidate will be organised and be capable of demonstrating good time-management skills, have a good understanding of scientific principals and the importance of laboratory protocol.

We currently hold UKAS Accreditation ISO:15189, and this post supports the Quality Lead as well as acting as the deputy to the Chief BMS in all matters pertaining to histological methods.

Before applying, we encourage you to review the Trust's vision, mission and values, which can be found in our candidate information pack.

The Supporting Information Section in your application should therefore reflect your understanding of the Trust's Values and associated behaviours. You will be expected to provide us with examples from work experience and/or personal life which demonstrate these values through your behaviour.

We are developing a network academy, a platform for all network education and training from apprenticeships to advanced clinical and scientific qualifications with a single faculty making best use of our talented educators and trainers. You will not be expected to work at sites outside of your employing Trust. However, there will be opportunities for collaborative working within this network.
