Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Photographer to join the Medical Illustration Department at East Kent University NHS Foundation Trust.

To collaborativelywork, as part of the specialized team that daily provides a high quality comprehensive and sometimes highly complex clinical photography & Illustration service to East Kent Hospitals NHS Trust and other external customers, whilst up holding the Trust's values and objectives.

Main duties of the job

This brilliant prospect requires an applicant with commitment, passion and enthusiasm towards medical photography to join our friendlyandcreativeteam.

Candidate must possess excellent organisational, interpersonal skills and communication skills with a good knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, especially, Photoshop, InDesign and Microsoft office. Must have mastered the use of Nikon dslr camera and have the ability to produce high quality work as you work closely within a productive and supportive team.

Examples of specialized areas: Videography and editing, graphic design and Illustrations, 3 dimensional (3D) and ultra violet (UV) photography.

Clinical duties: To undertake at a high level, clinical photography and videography across a range of clinical specialties, including ENT, Dermatology, Wound documentation and healing, Moh's surgery (e.g. reconstruction and cleft audit), paediatrics, minor injuries and trauma , maxilla facial, 3D and UV photography.

Other duties include: undertake public relation recording, medical art and preparations of posters, leaflets (desk top publishing) and ideally have an interest in helping to develop a clinical and non-clinical videography service.

CPD: To keep abreast of current mandatory training and developments within the Trust and the wider spectrum of clinical photography and Illustration.Recordings may be used to support patient care, teaching, publication or research.

Academic Qualification

Essential

  • Holds Graduate or Postgraduate clinical photography qualification
  • AHCS registration
  • Working in medical illustration or similar environment

Desirable

  • Practical clinical photography experience post qualification for 2 years

Knowledge

Essential

  • Fully conversant with digital SLR cameras
  • Large format printing
  • Scientific & technical photography
  • Human anatomy & physiology
  • Adobe: Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, In-design.
  • Understanding of equality and diversity issues and how this affects patients, visitors and staff.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies and guidance documents.

Desirable

  • Fully conversant with digital storage systems (MIM Waba)

  • Reliable and able to receive and convey complex, sensitive information regarding patient related issues and other relevant information.
