Job summary

Are you looking for a role as a Clinical Technologist in a friendly, dynamic service with excellent professional leadership?

We are looking for an enthusiastic Clinical Technologist with excellent team working skills. This is to provide a multidisciplinary Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) service in Kent and Medway. Our caseload is primarily clients with complex disabilities who have communication difficulties.

The KM CAT service is 1 of 15 regional Specialised AAC Services in England, covering Kent and Medway. The multi-disciplinary team is friendly and welcoming, and is held in high regard for providing a high quality, patient-centred clinical service founded on evidence-based practice and clinical collaboration.

Main duties of the job

As a Clinical Technologist, the post holder will be involved in patient care, as well as equipment management, and clinical engineering.

Kent and Medway Communication and Assistive Technology (KM CAT) Service is a specialised Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) service covering Kent and Medway.

The service provides highly specialised advice and solutions on communication needs to clients with severe disabilities and complex needs. The disabilities encountered by many of the Service's clients impact significantly on their independence, ability to communicate, to access education or work, and to their general well-being.

You will be working closely with our Healthcare Scientists, in Kent and Medway, within the Adult Team based at the Kent and Canterbury Hospital. You are also expected to travel within Kent and Medway at times.

Your role will mainly involve supporting clinical assessment, computing equipment preparation, repairs, equipment management, design and manufacture of bespoke equipment, mounting communication aids and working to a quality system.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need more information or wish to arrange an informal visit.

About us

We are one of the largest hospital trusts in England, with fivehospitals and community clinics serving a local population of around 800,000 people. Our vision is 'great healthcare from great people'. Everything we do is guided by our values: 'People feel cared for, safe, respected and confident that we are making a difference'. We have a new way of working at East Kent Hospitals, called 'We care'. It's about empowering frontline staff to lead improvements day-to-day. We're looking for compassionate people to be part of our improvement journey for the patients, families and carers we care for every day.

Applications for this role should be written by the applicant. If artificial intelligence (AI) programmes are used then the application may be rejected due to this document being an important part of the assessment process. This does not prevent applicants seeking appropriate support with applications should they need to for the purposes of any declared disability.

Please note that if you require a Certificate of Sponsorship to work in the UK you must declare this on your application form, even if you currently have a certificate of sponsorship or a work permit for another role and are already working in the country. Please note we are only able to sponsor candidates on a Skilled Worker Visa applying for roles Band 5 and above.
