Main duties of the job
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the dynamic General Surgery team which consists of 12 consultant surgeons, 8 Specialty Doctors, 4 SpRs, 3 FY2 doctors, 3 CT doctors, 2 Trust Doctors and 6 FY1 doctors. We have a vacancy for a CT2 level to work on the FY2 / Core Surgery level rota in this busy General Surgery Department.
The department has a fantastic reputation of helping all doctors in training (staff grade and trainees), to enhance their CV and achieve their goals. The department has a strong urge to contribute to audits/ QIP (one of the highest in the trust), presentations ( in national and international meetings)and publications. In 2023, we had more than 50 presentations and around 15 publications . There are multiple research projects ongoing within the department including participating in national RCT and local home bred translational research projects. All doctors will get a chance to participate in these projects.

A weekly timetable ensures a mix of duties to develop your experience and further your surgical knowledge. You will be required to keep accurate notes that are dated, legible and signed, undertake VT Assessment and EDN as required. You will also be responsible for care and day-to-day clinical management under the direction of the Consultant Surgeons.
