Job summary
We are a University Foundation Trust and have a passion for clinical excellence, multi professional working and education. Many of our consultants enjoy additional posts in the Trust, Deanery, BAD and Nationally. You will be working in a team of four consultants with diverse clinical interests. We also have 3 specialist registrars under KSS Deaneryand 7 excellent Speciality doctors.
The department provides many subspecialty clinics such as dermatological surgery including a Mohs unit, paediatrics, contact/occupational dermatitis, vulval dermatoses and a full phototherapy service. There are several dedicated specialist nurses developing their nurse led services. Inpatients are admitted under the hospital medical teams and there is no formal after hours on-call commitment.
Main duties of the job
You will work closely with the dermatology team in delivering inpatient and outpatient dermatology services to the local population. Specific duties are to independently run a combination of outpatient clinics and surgery sessions with weekly MDT and monthly joint clinic attendance. In addition the post-holder will provide supervision and support to the nurses and junior members of the medical team. PA to SPA ratios are 8:2 Clinical PAs are divided between fixed clinical sessions and administrative/ travel/other requirements. Ward referrals at the hospitals are undertaken by all the dermatology staff. The general responsibilities of the post will be those expected of a senior clinical employee of the Trust. These include provision of a first class clinical service, effective leadership to all staff involved in supporting the service, conducting clinical practice in accordance with the highest ethical standards, co-operation with and maintenance of confidentiality over business plans and development strategies within the Trust, support for other clinical specialties and contribution to postgraduate teaching. You will be expected to deliver a service covering all aspects of dermatology, but a special interest to complement those of the existing consultants would be encouraged.
