Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to perform as a Band 5 Staff Nurse within a very busy and friendly team. We are an 18 bedded acute ward specialising in Neurology, with 8 extra beds used for winter pressures. We also have a patient investigation unit to facilitate the 8 extra beds. We pride ourselves on our excellent standards of care and excellent team work. There will be opportunities for training to enhance your skills and knowledge and the successful candidate will be welcomed to a very popular ward within the Trust.
Main duties of the job
Undertake nursing assessments competently.
Act as the identified nurse for a group of patients by assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating their care.
Supervise junior members of staff in giving and maintaining high standards of care.
Regularly take charge of the ward in the absence of a more senior member of staff.
Demonstrate leadership in supporting the patient pathway.
Act as the patients' advocate.
Liaise with all members of the multidisciplinary team.
Participate in taking an active role in planning effective, timely and safe discharges.
Clinically competent in all areas of advanced practice relevant to the post.
Work in accordance with the Health Act (2006) and comply with the national and local infection control policies and procedures and any other related infection prevention policies or procedures.
