Applications are invited for a Consultant Paediatric Gastroenterologist, attracting 10PA's, at the Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mary Hospital at Margate.

Candidates should be trained in general paediatrics and have spent a minimum of three years in approved posts/programmes in paediatric gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition. The appointee will share the workload of the Paediatric Gastroenterology unit. Applicants should possess, or be within six months of receiving CCST/CCT in paediatric gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition. This new post has arisen due to increasing demand for paediatric gastroenterological services across Kent.
We aim for every consultant to excel in both clinical and non-clinical endeavours, including clinical leadership, research, teaching and other allied areas, supported by innovative development programs provided within the trust.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will share responsibility with the current gastro consultant for the provision of services. The consultant will provide 9-5 cover for the service, including support of all patients locally, a consultation service for other departments and telephone advice.
The Consultant will provide dedicated Paediatric Gastroenterology Clinics. The post holder will be required to undertake both diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic which involves overview of day case pH studies, impedance and breath tests. The post-holder may need to do outreach clinics in their geographical area of responsibility. They will be responsible not only for the clinics but also for providing general advice on any children with GI problems in that area, together with providing a lead for shared care arrangements.
The successful candidate will be expected to organise their workload and operate appointment systems in a manner that is consistent with good practice as laid out in the Trust policy. The candidate will be expected to work with Trust management to make optimum use of wards, theatre lists, clinics and other resources to contribute towards providing a high-quality service for children and meeting Trust targets.

Essential
- MRCPCH / FRCPCH by examination or equivalent
- Full GMC registration
- On the GMC's Specialist Register OR within 6 months of CCT at time of scheduled interview
- Minimum of English Level 2 (GCSE grade C or equivalent), ILETS, or graduate of a UK Medical School.
Desirable
- Higher degree, eg. MSc, MD, PhD in paediatrics.
- Other awards / titles e.g., Honorary lecturer
- Other post graduate qualification or clear potential to achieve e.g., MD/PhD
- APLS, EPALS or NLS Instructor
- Evidence of leadership attributes and experience
