Locum Consultant in Neuroscience (Interest in Mechanical Thrombectomy for Ischaemic Stroke)
Stroke Care at East Kent Hospital Foundation Trust (EKHUFT) is at an exciting period of development: providing 24 hour IV thrombolysis and a combined acute and inpatient stroke rehabilitation service for more than 1200 confirmed stoke patients per year as well as 7 day neurovascular clinics.
Kent and Canterbury Hospital has been designated as the hub for Kent and Medway Vascular Network, including Thrombectomy, serving a population of over 1.2 million people. The new Mechanical Thrombectomy service to be added to the already extensive neurovascular hyperacute care with 24hr access to CTA and CTP with AI decision support and 14hr access to MRI
The seven day neurovascular TIA service offers designated same day MRI/CEMRA (including weekends), Rapid Access Carotid Endarterectomy (RACE) and Carotid stenting takes place in house.
Main duties of the job
The Consultant will work across Stroke (6PAs) and Endovascular (4PAs) services and lead the Clinical Development of Thrombectomy within EKHUFT, teaching and training, supervising and supporting colleagues in their training and development to become "experienced operators" for Mechanical Thrombectomy.
Applicants should already have extensive experience in Stroke Medicine, Vascular CT and MRI head reporting and Mechanical Thrombectomy and ideally hold Specialist Registration or be within six months of your expected date of receipt
