Job summary
Emergency Medicine in East Kent Hospitals is at an exciting period of redevelopment, having attracted national investment to rebuild both Emergency Departments at William Harvey Hospital and Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital.Our EDs provide innovative and fast paced integrated emergency care to a wide range of patients from East Kent. It is our inspiration to develop into an academic and research unit in emergency medicine for Kent. Each of our EDs offer a full 24 hour emergency service. The Emergency Departments are supported by co-located Urgent Treatment Centres, a 24 hour UTC at the Kent and Canterbury Hospital with a further 7 community UTCs in the region. In total approximately 220,000 patients are seen annually across the Emergency Departments.
Main duties of the job
On call commitment is currently 1:7 remunerated at band A but is anticipated to reduce in frequency as additional posts are recruited to.As a PEM only Consultant your oncall responsibilities will be negotiated after discussion with the CL.The Care Group has been funded for an establishment of 10 Emergency Medicine Consultants in the William Harvey Hospital (WHH) and also 10 Emergency Medicine Consultants at the Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother Hospital (QE). A 25 doctor middle grade and 8 junior doctor rota has been developed. This provides a consistent level of cover across seven days with improved handover and cover in the evenings and overnight
