Main duties of the job

IT Project Management team in EKHUFT oversees a diverse and complex range of projects. These projects deliver key clinical, non-clinical systems and infrastructure that support the delivery of high-quality services for both staff and patients alike.

The role of the IT Project Manager at EKHUFT is to work closely with end users to understand the change requirement. The successful candidate will be expected to define the scope, initiate the project through to implementation and manage any risks and issues effectively.

The successful candidate will support the Implementation of the projects on the IT roadmap so the candidate will be required to manage both internal and external resources as well as vendor management. Using your excellent communication and end user engagement you will follow a methodical approach to see through project from initiation through completion.

Job description

Job responsibilities

  • Receive IT projects along with smaller work packages and ensure all projects are delivered on time, to budget and meet the quality criteria required to achieve the identified Trust benefits.
  • Responsible for leading and delivering all projects from initial inception through to delivery and Trust-wide rollout, engaging all stakeholders (internal and external) as required to ensure the projects objectives are met
  • Ability to co-ordinate and adjust to changing priorities and demands which may impact project delivery
  • Build project organisation by identifying workstreams based on project brief. Provide project team members with coaching on problem solving and change skills
  • Production of all project governance documentation as recommended by the Programme Manager and Project Board. Ensure ratification and sign off of project artefacts by responsible owners/ project team members
  • Effective Risk and Issue Management. Be proactive in escalating any project risks or issues as and when they occur to Senior Project Manager and Programme Manager
  • Ensure knowledge transfer within the team about projects to ensure continuity and impact on other projects is well understood within the projects team
  • Create processes to handover to business as usual
  • Complete all activities associated with project closure and prepare a detailed project closure report including lessons learnt to promote good practice
  • Effective supplier management to ensure all the deliverables outlined in the contract are met
  • Mentoring of Junior project managers and Project Support Analysts
  • Act as the main point of contact for clinical and operational engagement
  • Develop relationships and influence to ensure ownership of change is achieved and that supportive and sustainable performance management frameworks are put in place
  • Lead on benchmarking and benefits tracking to enable on-going benefits realisation and to ensure optimum use of benefits and processes
  • Utilise Project Management methodologies and tools for successful project delivery
  • Evaluate and report on project progress and delivery against agreed objectives to the Programme Office
  • Responsible for presenting highly complex project information to large groups of Trust staff and external stakeholders
  • Work closely with managers, clinicians and operational staff to ensure wide understanding of the project and how it contributes towards IT and Trust strategy
  • Collaborates with wider IT teams for the provision of estimates, develop overall implementation solution plan for installation, customisation and integration of solutions
