We have an exciting opportunity for a Ward Clerk position on Sandwich Bay Ward with opportunities to learn an administration role within a ward base environment.
Sandwich Bay Ward is a 21-23 bedded ward, 16-18 beds within 2 bay's and 5 side rooms. We specialise in Palliative, End of Life and Medically Optimised for Discharge, as well as being a general medicine ward.
Main duties of the job
- As a Ward Clerk your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Tidying and filing of patients notes
- Making patient appointments
- Answering the phone and dealing with the query
- Helping staff and visitors when they arrive on the ward
- Updating the electronic board so all Doctor and patient information is correct and up to date
- Assist with booking transport
- Update the bay doors with staff information
- Advise when stationery is needing to be ordered
- Sorting the post out as it arrives on the ward
- Assisting with discharging of patients
- Printing off paperwork staff require
- Photocopying
- Going to other wards to collect items or drop items off
- Assisting Ward Manager, Nurse in Charge & Ward Manager's Assistant with tasks as they occur
- Attend ward round to be aware of patient movement
- Making notices and laminating
- Reporting faults on the relevant database
- Calling porters, using porter's system to log calls
- Keeping all files and folders up to date
- Keeping all folders on the ward up to date and with the relevant information in
- Chasing Doctor's to ensure they update electronic paperwork in a timely manner

- We have a large, multi-skilled team of staff who all work together to achieve the high standards we pride ourselves on.
- We are a foster ward for new overseas Nurses who, after initial overseas training spend 4 weeks on the ward, training in the everyday running of a ward, preparing for their permanent placement.
- Sandwich Bay Ward also accommodates Student Nurses who get a placement with us & Care Support Workers from NHSP completing their Care Certificate on the Ward.
- Good education/progression opportunities which will be supported by the Ward Manager.
