Job summary
At East Kent Hospitals, we are pleased to be offering ST1/2 Trust doctors in Neonates to join our dynamic Child Health Team fixed term 12 months initially. The appointees will participate in a EWTD compliant full shift rota of ST1/2 grades on call cover for Neonates at William Harvey Hospital in Ashford.
Main duties of the job
The appointee will be allocated a neonatal consultant who will be his/her educational supervisor for the duration of the post. This will give an opportunity to candidate to reflect on their work and training. They will be expected to participate in all the educational and training activities of the department. This will include twice weekly departmental teaching, grand round attendance, 5 minute teaching at hand over time. They will also participate in bi monthly departmental audit and education programme.

Junior doctors will be expected to prepare, participate and present in monthly perinatal morbidity and mortality meetings. We have an active research programme and there will be an opportunity for the candidate to participate in this programme with help of the principal investigator and possibly co- author a research paper. They are entitled to study leave like any speciality doctor in the Trust.
The successful candidates will have enthusiasm, have excellent clinical and communication skills and be keen to develop in areas including and keen clinical governance, quality improvement, research and the development of cross site clinical support for our level 1 sister neonatal unit in Margate.
