Job summary

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to further develop and explore their Neuro-Physiotherapy and rehabilitation skills in an out-patient setting, which will also include aquatic therapy. The post holder will be required to work across sites when needed.

The service treats a wide range of neurological conditions including MS, PD, FND and stroke, and is currently based within the out-patient therapies department at the William Harvey Hospital, Ashford and Buckland Hospital, Dover. The post-holder will be required to participate in the service improvement programme, which is currently under way.About the Role:You will be required to provide a full comprehensive Neuro Physiotherapy assessment, develop individualised evidence-based treatment programmes and advice, to enable patients to achieve their identified goals. The ability to empower the patient to self-manage their long-term condition is vital within this role.

You will be willing and eager to learn, whilst working as a competent and conscientious autonomous practitioner, with excellent clinical skills. You will also be involved in the appraisal, supervision and support of junior staff, support workers and students and contribute to their training programme and preceptorship.

You will be supported by two Band 7 Physiotherapists with training and regular supervision available.

Main duties of the job

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated individual to join our neuro outpatients physiotherapy team. We are looking for a new Band 6 Physiotherapist to provide advanced physiotherapy assessment and management of patients with a wide range of neuroconditions. You will be working in a busy, friendly outpatient department seeing both GP and Consultant referrals.

The highly experienced team consists of 3 Band 7s with various special interests, Band 6s and 2 rotational Band 5s and Band 4 and 3 Support Workers. You will also work closely with the well established MSK and hand therapy teams and gain further support from our Spinal, Rheumatology and Paediatric Extended Scope Practitioners.

You will assist in the clinical delivery of musculoskeletal physiotherapy services in the Outpatient Physiotherapy Department at Queen Elizabeth Queen Mother Hospital, Marggate and Buckland Hospital Dover. Your caseload will consist of a range of 1:1 assessments and treatments as well as being responsible for independently running group sessions. The Department has access to a large gym space and aquatic therapy pool and also runs various regular gym rehabilitation classes. A good range of and Band 5 rotations with MSK experience is essential and preferably some senior MSK experience, however this is not essential.
