Clinical Nurse Specialist - Pain Management

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, experienced Nurse to work in all areas of the pain service as a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS).
You will work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team, co-ordinating care and treatment of patients with acute and chronic pain.
You will provide input across all areas of pain management, including the inpatient/acute pain service, the chronic pain service and the multidisciplinary pain management programme provided by the Centre of Pain Education (COPE).

In case we don't find a perfect fit for the Band 7 role, we're open to interviewing candidates for our Band 6 trainee clinical nurse specialist position. For the Band 6 role, we're looking for registered nurses with recent experience in surgical, theatre recovery, or critical care, especially those with expertise in caring for patients using patient-controlled analgesia with opioids.

Main duties of the job
This role will:
- Include inpatient/acute pain ward rounds, delivering nurse led clinics including 'rapid response' and medication reduction clinics and specialist nurse input to COPE
- Require an appreciation of the complex issues patients with chronic/persistent pain can face and an ability to show initiative and understanding in providing support and care for these patients and their relatives/carers. Outstanding communication and team working skills are therefore essential.
