Named Nurse for Children Looked After Band 8a, full time 37.5 hours per week
The Named Nurse for Children Looked After(CLA) will support all activities to ensure the organization meets its statutory responsibilities with regard to Children Looked After. The post holder will provide leadership and assurance across the CLA agenda, seeking assurances from and holding to account services and partners regarding their responsibilities. This post will manage the Children Looked After team, provide expert leadership of the Children Looked After agenda for Sutton. The post holder will provide access to a supportive team who will provide specialist advice and support across the organisation on all Children Looked After matters. They will provide the Lead Nurse for safeguarding with support in implementing the safeguarding children agenda and CLA agenda across the Trust. They will assist the Trust in meeting its statutory duties and responsibilities relating to CLA. This includes providing cover, where necessary, in the absence of the Lead nurse.
Main duties of the job
- To contribute to the achievement of the Directorate / Trust business plan targets and objectives about Children Looked After.
- The Named Nurse is the identified source of advice, guidance and support for Borough employees and other partner agencies. The Named Nurse will ensure and promote expert professional practice within the Sutton Borough in relations to CLA
- To ensure that all staff have an awareness and understanding of current Safeguarding procedures achieved through the delivery of appropriate levels of training.
- To ensure that staff are using and applying safeguarding procedures by facilitation of an environment of reflection and inquiry that optimises learning achieved through the supervision of staff.
- The Named Nurse for CLA will work closely with other Named Professionals in order to improve the life chances for CLA in line with National and local targets and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Implement the national guidance on CLA.
- Plan, monitor and implement the CLA Audit programme.
- Participate in Serious Case Reviews, Individual Management Reviews, Domestic Homicide Reviews and any other reviews.
