Special School Staff Nurse Sherwood Park School-

Band 5 and 6 full time term time only

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who has experience in community paediatric nursing, children's continence and working in a special school.

Sutton Health and Care (SHC) is an innovative community partnership between local partners in health and social care organisations, in which community services are fully integrated to support the delivery of a new health and care model for the residents of Sutton.

Hosted by Epsom and St Helier University NHS Trust the model ensures the breaking down of traditional organisational barriers to enable the provision of care that is centred around children and their families. An Alliance Board representing all partners has been formed to support consensus decision making. All partners firmly believe that the alchemy of the partnership will drive transformational change to the benefit of service users and the local healthcare system.

Main duties of the job

Band 5 and 6 full time term time only

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who has experience in community paediatric nursing, children's continence and working in a special school.

The School Nursing Team deliver health care to children with complex health needs attending Sherwood Park School. They are responsible for undertaking health assessments, completing and updating care plans, managing emergency situations and providing training for education staff. They complete reports and attend child protection conferences.

The successful applicant will have the ability to work collaboratively with other health professional and school staff to support and empower children, young people and their families to improve health and give every child the opportunity to develop their full potential.

(PLEASE NOTE: The salary range will be based pro rata per annum for Term Time only contracts as the salary provided is based on full time only and not Term Time)

  • Mentorship Qualification

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years post qualification experience working with children

Desirable

  • Previous experience of working with children with severe & profound learning disabilities and complex health needs.
  • Previous experience of working in a special school / community setting.
  • Experienced in carrying out children's continence assessments and providing continence advice to both children with and without disabilities.

Knowledge and Skills

Essential

  • IT skills including the use of word and excel.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of specialist communication skills e.g. Makaton & PECS
  • Previous use of electronic records systems (e.g. RiO, EMIS)
