Job summary
Assist the unit manger on the everyday management of patients and staff in the busy outpatients department.
Be a part of a multi-disciplinary team and assist clinicians and other members of the multi-disciplinary team with the oral, maxillofacial, Paediatric and orthodontic care and treatments of patients. Work alongside and under supervision of a consultant and other appropriately qualified clinicians.
Include chairside activity as well as supporting the senior sister, and ensuring that new and junior staff are effectively inducted and support by all team members.
Complete observations on Patients during their treatments.
Provide appraisals for the Registered Dental Nurses.
Main duties of the job
Plan ahead by weekly rota checks/timetabling against clinics running; amend staff accordinglywhilst liaising with the management team.
Assist with sickness and absence management by recording all absences which occur in the absence of the senior sister and communicate accordingly.
Mentor and work in clinics supporting new staff and junior members of the team.
Paediatric Safeguarding Lead - supporting consultants, medical team.
Responsible for checking, ordering and maintain stock levels of equipment and materials as required.
Ensure daily checks are carried out in clinical areas and weekly tasks are completed.
Supervise and monitor standards of care delivery in the department, check for safety and cleanliness.
Carry out any other relevant duties as specified by the professional staff and senior sister.
Assist with recruitment and selection of new nursing staff.
Actively participate in annual appraisals for Registered Dental Nurses and agreeing personal development plans
To organise and provide chair-side nursing in orthodontic, paediatric and oral surgery clinics.
Effectively manage and support changes throughout the clinic area and department
