Job summary
We are currently looking to recruit a Locum Consultant Paediatrician at Epsom General Hospital, Epsom, Surrey, to help deliver our service in the north of Surrey. The post is a fixed term contract to cover maternity leave. The post will be based at Epsom General Hospital. While the main base for this post will be Epsom Hospital, the post holder may be required to work at other sites as required. Epsom Hospital has an integrated paediatric service with acute and community paediatrics on the same site.
The successful applicant will take part in the acute paediatric service, including consultant of the week attending on the wards, and taking part in the on-call rota. The post holder will deliver general & community paediatric clinics.
The successful applicant will play a crucial role in ensuring the team continues to deliver a high quality paediatric service.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will join a team of 16 Paediatric Consultants and 1 Associate Specialist. There are also 9 middle grade and 9 junior doctors on the paediatric rotas covering ED, the inpatient ward, the day-case ward and SCBU, in addition to Clinical Nurse Specialists for Epilepsy, Asthma, Allergy, Oncology and Diabetes
Routine educational activities include weekly junior doctor teaching programme in addition to Quality meetings, Child Protection Peer review and Mortality & Morbidity meetings run as part of the monthly programme. There will be opportunities for teaching and training.
