Job summary

We are looking for a skilled and motivated Specialist Pharmacist/Pharmacy Technician - ePMA and Clinical Informatics to play a pivotal role in the implementation, development, and maintenance of our electronic prescribing and medicines administration (ePMA) system. Main duties of the job

To maintain all clinical systems as directed by the relevant committees and the ePMA and Clinical Informatics Team Leader.

Collaborate with the IT department to develop, improve and maintain the prescribing and administration solutions of Cerner millennium

To develop, test and deliver basic developments in the ePMA software under the direction of the Highly Specialist Pharmacists/Pharmacy Technicians e.g., order sets

To support all users of the ePMA modules, by providing advice on how to complete tasks in ePMA.

To be a champion user of the ePMA system, with an extensive knowledge and understanding of how the ePMA system works and understand the workflow that staff need to follow to ensure safety.

To positively identify issues with the system or issues with how a member of staff uses the system.

To troubleshoot arising issues and refer persistent or unsolvable problems to the Highly Specialist Pharmacists/Pharmacy Technicians

To interrogate the Clinical Informatics system to ensure that it is safe for use, gaining an understanding of the risks involved in deploying the system, to proactively manage staff using the system

To facilitate the management of downtime and uptime, including out of hours work as needed due to unplanned or planned service outage.

Create Reports from any clinical informatics systems as directed by the Pharmacy Team Leader

Qualifications

Essential

  • Masters in Pharmacy Degree - MPharm (Pharmacist) or BTEC National Certificate in Pharmaceutical Sciences, or NVQ Level 3 Pharmaceutical Sciences sufficient for registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
  • 1 year pre-registration training Professional registration with General Pharmaceutical Council (Pharmacist)
  • Professional registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)

Desirable

  • Completed training course(s) for maintenance of clinical informatics systems.

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Minimum of 18 months experience, working as a qualified pharmacist in an NHS hospital (Pharmacist) or Substantial post registration experience as a Pharmacy Technician in a hospital setting
  • Relevant Hospital ePMA (electronic prescribing and administration) Systems experience
  • Understanding of electronic patient records

Desirable

  • Understanding of Cerner Millennium or CMM/JAC system
  • Demonstrates an awareness of interface issues.
