Job summary
ONE PERMANENT BAND 5 STAFF NURSE AND ONE FIXED TERM STAFF NURSE FOR ONE YEAR.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Acute HD Staff Nurse to work at St Helier Hospital Renal Unit covering 44 beds and patients in ITU requiring HD . This is a demanding role requiring commitment, enthusiasm and a desire for self-development. Previous experience in HD is desirable.
We are seeking to recruit enthusiastic, dynamic & well organized nurse to join our friendly team.
This role has technical and caring aspects and you will be involved in reviewing patient's blood results, preparing and programming dialysis machines and related equipment whilst caring for and assessing patients who are undergoing acute and chronic haemodialysis.
You will be given on opportunity to learn and train Plasma Exchange as we provide this service in the Renal Unit.
Main duties of the job
Staff Nurse - Acute HD
The Staff Nurse will deliver high quality nursing care to patients, as part of a team. The post holder is responsible for their own practice, working within the defined limits of competence and within the scope of the role.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a high standard of care to dialysis patients as well as ensuring an excellent learning environment for patient and staff.
With the support of the Clinical Matron and Lead Clinicians, he/ she will need to provide holistic care to renal dialysis patients and comply with specific infection and dialysis guidelines.
The post holder must have excellent interpersonal skills and have the capacity to work autonomously as a clinical expert. He/she will preferably need to have renal nursing experience, or have a keen interest to be trained in dialysis care. He/she must also be self-motivated and have excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
