Job summary

The post holder will

To plan, develop, monitor and direct a substantial programme of specialised strategic activity to ensure the Trust meets the requirements of:

  • The NHS Carbon Reduction Strategy for England (SDU 2009).
  • Sustainable Development Management Plan and Good Corporate Citizen Assessment Model.
  • The Climate Change Act 2008.
  • Carbon Reduction Commitment.
  • Manage the Trust's overall energy budget.
  • Collect, collate, record and manage energy consumption figures.
  • To monitor and review all Utilities used within the Trust and to ensure all possible savings are made.
  • Manage Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC) and European Union Emissions Trading Scheme (EU ETS) returns on behalf of the Trust.
  • Invoice validation Management.
  • Promote energy awareness
  • Manage Display Energy Certification and TM 44
  • Develop and write Energy Reports

Main duties of the job

Manage the trusts energy budget

Write energy reports as required

Collate data and information for the Trusts Annual Reports, both financial and non-financial on the trusts ERIC returns and other reports.

Own areas of the Green Plan and produce feasibility studies on implementation of areas of Green Plan

Reduce trust carbon admissions

Validating all Utilities invoicing Lead on the implementation of energy related project on the Green Plan

Monitor the utilities element of the Green Plan ensuring that it is meeting expectations

Identify and secure grants and other income for improvement works related to energy projects

Arrange and deliver internal workshops and events related to the trusts utilities forward plan

Development of the Green Plan in relation to utilities.

To provide support to the Trusts business continuity plan.

  • oProfessional knowledge acquired through Higher National Certificate in Engineering or equivalent plus specialist knowledge acquired through post-graduate courses and experience to masters equivalent level or equivalent knowledge and experience:

  • oTo have completed a full recognized apprenticeship in Building/Engineering services oTo have at least 5 years relevant experience of managing utilities oExperience managing complex technical issues within a sensitive environment oTo have experience in managing meetings oManagement experience including the responsibility for achieving targets oExperience in developing new programs and implementation of major projects
