Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a senior pharmacy assistant to join the Pharmacy Homecare Team at Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust.
You will mainly be based in the pharmacy offices, within the pharmacy department. The role involves working closely with Trust colleagues, 3rd party service providers, patients and others in the multi-disciplinary team. You will co-ordinate the ordering of prescriptions for delivery direct to patients, under homecare service agreements. In addition you will be expected to work closely with finance and pharmacy procurement teams ensuring timely processing of invoices; provide data for invoicing of high cost medicines and liaise with clinicians to ensure homecare prescriptions are provided on a timely basis.
The successful candidate must be proficient in the use of a computer, have proven organisational skills and demonstrate an attention to detail in their work. Excellent communication skills are essential as you will be working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Main duties of the job
To be responsible for the creation of official pharmacy homecare orders on the JAC/CMM pharmacy system and for placing the orders with the agreed 3rd party homecare providers.
To reconcile homecare delivery notes against purchase orders and approve for payment, invoices and credit notes, in line with departmental policy. To be responsible for the booking in of homecare items upon receipt of a proof of delivery (POD).
To be responsible for the dispensing of homecare prescriptions under the supervision of the Chief Technician High Cost Drugs/Homecare Services, using the Pharmacy Computer System (JAC/CMM), checking proof of delivery and reconciling dispensing records as required, in accordance with departmental policy and procedures.
To assist in the efficient and economical running of the pharmacy homecare service and the management of requests for high cost drugs.
To work in the dispensary at the weekend, as part of the 7-day Pharmacy service, as per the rota.
