Job summary

To work with the Director of Nursing, Divisional Director of Operations, and Medical Director to meet the division's key performance targets, leading effective and efficient delivery operational and clinical services with particular emphasis on effective clinical care, as well as implementing the strategic, financial and operational plans and efficiently deploying the resources of the Directorate.

The post holder will be the lead professional for nurses and nursing teams with Emergency care and be an advocate for patients, families and carers in the achievement of clinical excellence. Locally, the post holder will lead on optimising and strengthening the role and responsibility of nurses within the service, ensuring nursing workforce resilience and succession planning.

Champion strong collaboration across clinical pathways and ensure the engagement of other Divisions to maintain flow across the hospital and wider local system.

The Associate Director of Nursing will support the Divisional Director of Nursing at a strategic and operational level and work together to cover the Emergency Care Service. You will provide visible professional nursing, and AHP clinical leadership and support teams to achieve the implementation of the Trusts vision and key priorities.

  • he post holder will lead and support specific portfolios/projects to ensure quality of care, excellent patient experience whilst maintaining financial sustainability and management. They will contribute to and ensure delivery of strategic and operational objectives set by the Trust and Divisional Board.
  • The post holder will support the Divisional Director of Nursing in the development of the strategic direction for the Division, working with the Divisional Senior team to support, influence and guide the development and delivery of excellent nursing care.
  • The post holder will provide clinical leadership which inspires, motivates and empowers nurses within the Division. In conjunction with the DDN the post holder will ensure that there is optimal deployment of nursing and midwifery staff to ensure that high quality patient care is delivered and monitored.
  • The post holder will lead delegated work streams and working in partnership with the Directorate Nursing teams to ensure compliance with the Trust's strategic direction and the Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professional strategy and direction.
  • The post holder will support the Divisional Director of Nursing in Trust wide developments and support of service transformation to meet the changing needs of staff, patients and relevant stakeholders. and guide the development and delivery of excellent nursing care.

  • Demonstrable experience of people management including experience of chairing capability / disciplinary hearings.
