Job summary

The postholder will support the recruitment, allocation and on boarding of international nurses and midwives. They will lead on the programme of pastoral care and support required for internationally educated nurses and midwives (IEN/IEM) across the Trust. Will be responsible to coordinate training and activities designed to support and celebrate new International recruits into the clinical teams and the local community, providing clinical leadership to ensure the delivery of person-centred, safe and effective care and develop the leadership capability of others. You will support the Lead Nurse to facilitate inclusive recruitment attraction strategies and plan recruitment of diverse teams and values-based recruitment

Main duties of the job

Coordinate the development of pastoral care for international nursing and midwifery recruits from pre-arrival to the first 12 months in the organisation working with key members of the Divisions. Prepare IENs for the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) by facilitating training, simulation and mock OSCEs. Liaise with Ward/Department Managers to co-ordinate the induction, training and supervision of newly appointed IENs. Lead on the welfare and wellbeing of staff in particular international nurses and midwives. Provides visible effective clinical and professional leadership, acting as a role model for all staff. Work closely with relevant teams to support the accommodation strategy for IEN/IEMs. Provide advice to clinical areas on the appropriate use of preceptorship, supervision, induction packages, competency packages and learning contracts. Work with ward/department managers to identify local induction, training and support needs.
