Epsom & St Helier Hospitals (ESTH) has had over 1000 admissions for patients with the Post COVID-19 virus and a further unknown number were treated at other local hospitals and in the community. Post-COVID Symptoms vary across the population: from those with ongoing breathing difficulties as well as having other problems such as fatigue, brain fog, muscle aches and pains as well as many others. It is important that these patients are offered the rehabilitation they require.

We are excited to advertise this COVID Rehabilitation Physiotherapist role. The post-holder will work as a member of the Surrey Downs Health & Care and Sutton Health & Care COVID Rehabilitation Service which forms part of the Community Respiratory Team. The post-holder will maintain a high standard of patient care by planning, undertaking and evaluating of clinical rehabilitation interventions.

Main duties of the job

  • To accept autonomous clinical responsibility for a designated caseload of patients with Post COVID Syndrome providing high quality, responsive, specialist community rehabilitation services working alongside the senior community physiotherapist as well as other healthcare professionals from primary and secondary care teams.
  • To work alongside the senior physiotherapist to assess, plan and run the Post COVID Rehabilitation Service.
  • To assist the senior Physiotherapists by monitoring caseloads, recording statistics and prioritising referrals as required
  • To share responsibility for training, supervising, clinical development and performance management of more junior staff.
