Assistant Psychologist

The Hope Service offers a PTSD care pathway for Refugees and Asylum Seekers, including victims of trafficking. We also support people with an asylum seeking background living in Initial Accommodation (IA) hotels across the region. We are offering an opportunity to join us as an Assistant Psychologist.
The role will involve providing support and assistance to staff and members of the team and undertaking clinical tasks under the supervision of the qualified clinical psychologist. There will also be an opportunity to get involved with routine ongoing audit, research and service evaluation within the team.
Our service supports with people with a refugee/asylum seeking background and both experience and a passion for working in this field are essential. People with lived experience of seeking asylum are particularly invited to apply. In return we can offer the opportunity to be part of a dynamic and effective team.
The Hope Service works primarily from Gloucester House, Southmead Hospital but the role could involve some remote working and community based work across the area. The role is for one day per week, with some flexibility around days.
Please note this is a part time (18.75 hours per week) role.
Main duties of the job
Main duties are to assist clinical psychologists / therapists and art therapist in tasks including psychological assessment and intervention under the supervision of a qualified clinical psychologist or art therapist working independently within the limits agreed.

CLINICAL
To support the Clinical psychologists / therapists/ art therapists within the Hope Service
Where required, to prepare and deliver high quality psychological interventions under supervision, either individually or in groups, including the facilitation of MOAT groups and 1:1 MOATs.
Where required, to offer high quality psychological assessments following instructions appropriate to the assessment tools/processes. This includes the initial assessments for the HOPE service, which requires the completing of specific outcome measures.
To support clinicians in making NET life line documents.
To gather and organise information about clinical notes, relevant psychological interventions and clinical tools for use by other staff.
TEACHING AND TRAINING
To undertake such training as might be required to maintain an appropriate level of expertise such as at hotels and with the voluntary sector.
To assist with the delivery of teaching and training for other members of the multidisciplinary team and staff in other agencies, in collaboration with qualified staff.
PROFESSIONAL
To understand and practice in line with the BPS (2009) Code of Ethics and Conduct and the DCP (2008) Professional Practice Guidelines on the role
To participate in team business and professional meetings as appropriate.
- To be aware of and comply with all policies, procedures and directions of the Department, Service and Trust.
To seek regular support and clinical supervision from a Practitioner Psychologist.
To participate in individual, group and peer supervision.
CLINICAL GOVERNANCE
To participate in service governance processes to ensure a safe and effective service.
To support and participate in multidisciplinary clinical audit.
