Due to retirement of current post holder, an opportunity has arisen for a Mental Health Practitioner skilled and experienced with children, young people and families to take on the role of Band 7 CAMHS Primary Mental Health Specialist located in the South Families Plus team, South Gloucestershire LA (Council) Early Help Team (more information at The-Right-Help-in-the-Right-Way-at-the-Right-Time-January-2021.pdf (southglos.gov.uk)

As a fully registered CAMHS Specialist in this team you conduct assessment on the psychological / emotional health and wellbeing of children and young people. You will lead and participate in multi-agency meetings and and will engage in direct therapeutic work with children and families s and will self-manage a caseload. You will design and deliver presentations and training events for other professionals and carers / parents as required.

Main duties of the job

The PMHS role is embedded within the LA team and will provide consultation to Families Plus (Early Help) staff about secondary aged young people with emotional and mental health needs, providing advice and support to upskill professionals to identify mental health needs and appropriately intervene. Some of these young people/families will require assessment and interventions from the post holder and may require an assertive outreach approach to aid engagement. The post will also provide training to Families Plus staff and other professionals working with children and young people.

You will be welcomed into an established and experienced Primary Mental Health Specialist team within South Gloucestershire and Bristol. This role will be a job share with an experienced CAMHS clinician who has been in post for several years. You will also access support, training and regular supervision from the South Gloucestershire locality CAMHS team.

Qualification

Essential

  • Professional qualification eg Nursing, Social Work, Family Therapy, Arts Therapies, OT, Psychology and Psychotherapy
  • Maintenance of appropriate professional registration (HCPC, NMC etc)
  • Formal post-graduate level qualification in a relevant field eg CYP-IAPT training, AMHP, CBT, Brief Therapy or can demonstrate an equivalent level of knowledge and expertise

Experience

Essential

  • Post qualification of delivering evidence based therapies to young people and families in CAMHS
  • Significant post-qualifying clinical experience of working with multiple agencies
