Job summary

The Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust has recently brought together its digital and estates departments in order to enhance the delivery of the recently agreed digital and estates strategies. These strategies are primarily focused on improving the working environment for all of its staff and improving the feel and accessibility of services that clients of the organisation experience.

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and lead executive for contracting, procurement, estates and digital services is looking to recruit a Director of Digital and Estates to lead on the delivery of the respective strategies for the Trust. The CFO is interested to hear from people with significant and specific experience of leading either / both digital and estates services who would be interested in applying for the role of Director of Digital and Estates.

You must have significant experience of working at Board level and will be comfortable with working with all types of senior leaders. You will have significant experience of working in a complex public and private service environment and have a good understanding of commercial arrangements associated with contracting, outsourcing and working with different agencies. Above all you will need to be able to evidence exceptional leadership characteristics irrespective of your background.

Main duties of the job

You will have full responsibility for the estates & digital departments of the Trust, reporting directly to the CFO. You will be required to set & deliver plans that will deliver the Trust's estates and digital strategies including the continued improvement in the compliance of the Trust's estate & technology. Working closely with internal and external leaders you will develop & enhance the way in which mental health, learning disability & autism services are provided across the geography of the organisation. The role will be fully supported through the usual range of supervision & appraisal processes which will be accompanied by a bespoke package agreed with you.

You will be a member of the extended executive team & will attend board committees as required. We are looking for a colleague who is fundamentally committed to improving the situation of patients & staff every day of the week as well as being able to see the impact on people of service change.

You will understand the need for system leadership & be able to live with & manage uncertainty & think at a strategic level, overseeing large scale & long term change & at the same time having the eye for detail that will mean the board gets reliable assurance on the services.
