General Hotel Services Assistant 22.5 hours per week, working on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 07.30 to 16.00 (including unpaid breaks)
Enhanced pay is payable for hours worked on a Saturday and Sunday, and also on Bank and Public Holidays .
We are seeking a member of staff to join our established team of General Health Assistants, to ensure that we can provide a 7 day service across the Department.
General Health Service Assistants support the Wards and Departments of Callington Road Hospital by providing a Portering, Cleaning, and Catering service.
The duties of the post are wide ranging and the tasks vary day to day. General Health Service Assistants are expected to demonstrate a flexible attitude to their work on a daily basis to meet the needs of the Department.
The duties are of a physical nature, and some of the work is undertaken outside, so the ability to work in adverse weather situations, such as rain, snow and cold weather is essential.

Main duties of the job
Cleaning - Cleaning all areas of the Hospital, including bedrooms with en-suite facilities, bathrooms, day rooms, lounges, corridors, offices and other areas of the Ward.
Portering -To sort, pack and deliver Cook-Freeze meals, fresh and ambient goods and all associated catering items to Wards on a daily/weekly/as need basis. To ensure compliance with Trust Policy and Legislation.
To deliver/collect Function Catering items to various areas of the Unit as required ensuring compliance with Trust Policy and Legislation. Collection and delivery between wards and departments of post, stores, laundry, pharmacy items, medical gases, pathological specimens and furniture and equipment.
Post duties including the collection, sorting and delivery of all postal items.
Catering - The preparation and service of breakfast items, the handling, reheating, and service of cook-freeze meals. Making light snacks including salads, sandwiches and beverages. Washing up and associated cleaning within the Ward kitchen and dining room.
Other duties - Handling and disposal of waste, periodic cleaning, such as carpet shampooing and curtain changing.

1.General cleaning duties as required, including sanitary areas, bedrooms, communal areas and offices.
2. Regeneration and service of frozen meals and associated tasks, such as washing-up, cleaning kitchens and dining rooms.
b) Catering
1. To provide a Catering Service to support the Ward based Patients meal service and to prepare sandwiches, rolls, salads and snacks for Patients.
2. To ensure the safe storage/handling of all food items including Cook-Freeze meals, ensuring compliance with Trust Policy and current Legislation.
3. To maintain a hygienic and clean condition of the Catering Department including associated areas, equipment and utensils.
