Job summary

We are seeking a part-time SAS doctor to join the BSW Perinatal Community service, working alongside the team's full-time substantive Consultant Psychiatrist.

This is a new post that has been created following a review of the team's needs for senior medical input.

The BaNES, Swindon and Wiltshire (BSW) Community Specialised Perinatal Mental Health service is a multi-disciplinary service that was created in 2019 following a successful bid in wave 2 of the National NHS-E Community Development fund.

The aim of the service is to offer an effective perinatal mental health pathway from pre-conception through to the infant's first birthday.

The service achieves this through providing specialist advice, support and oversight, working with health and social care professionals in primary care, maternity services, early years and adult mental health.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will deliver direct interventions appropriate to service users' mental health needs, including assessment, diagnosis (including review and clarification) and treatment.

  • To provide advice to members of the Multi-Disciplinary Team.
  • Regular attendance at team MDT meetings.
  • Attendance of CPA meetings, when appropriate.
  • To liaise with other parts of the service and GPs and non NHS organisations wherever appropriate.
