We are looking for a Health Care Support Worker who wish to work with adults On Acer, Substance Misuse Recovery Ward, Clifton Buildings, Southmead. Health Care Support Workers on Acer are an integral part of a multidisciplinary team of health care professionals that work to ensure that the clinical, environmental and social needs of our service users are met. They are also very much involved in the therapeutic support to enable service users to gain Substance Misuse Recovery. Our role is to work collaboratively with individuals to empower them in their recovery and enable them to 'Have a Life worth Living'. Experience of having worked in a health care setting is essential. The team on Acer is committed to the continuing professional development of all staff and has a supportive training and supervision programme in place.

Main duties of the job
Ensuring the safety of all on the ward is paramount, service users staff and visitors at all times.
Alongside safety, one of the key requirements on the ward is the ability to build and develop relationships with service users from their admission through to discharge. Being boundaried whilst also being supportive.
Engage in all aspects of ward management as directed by the ward manager/nurse in charge whilst on shift.
Good communication within the team and at all levels. Ability to utilise IT systems.
To have, or keenness to develop a good understanding of substance misuse and mental health issues, the effects of these on peoples lives
