Job summary

The post-holder will be instrumental in supporting the psychological vision for the service to become a reality. The post involves the provision of time-limited psychological interventions within a stepped care model. The main emphasis for the role will be delivering a range of intensities of psychological interventions to enable service users to progress in their recovery. The interventions that are core to the role and development are CBT and DBT skills, as well as familiarity with motivational interviewing. The service is developing its adversity and trauma informed practice and, as such, experience and/or interest in delivering trauma focused psychological therapies such as CFT would be advantageous. It is not expected that the post-holder will have all of these skills. The role will also provide clinical supervision and support to the team including providing training, CPD, reflective practice and team formulation.

The post holder will work in partnership with third sector organisations to deliver the Recovery Oriented Alcohol & Drugs Service (ROADS). Currently, the partners are Bristol Drugs Project (BDP), Developing Health & Independence (DHI) and Addiction Recovery Agency (Ara).

Main duties of the job

We are looking to appoint a Band 7 Clinical/Counselling/ Forensic Psychologist to deliver evidence based specialist psychological therapies and to provide supervisory support and consultation to staff co-delivering interventions within the ROADS drug and alcohol treatment system, promoting and embedding an adversity and trauma informed approach.

The role involves assisting with the delivery of 1:1 and group psychological interventions to service users, under the supervision of the lead psychologist. The role will also involve supporting the teaching and training of other professionals on psychological theory, research and its application to clinical practice, carrying out audits and service evaluations as required and working collaboratively with other members of the multidisciplinary team.

The post holder will be based at Campbell House however he/she may within reason be required to work at or from any of the treatment systems other locations within central Bristol as may be determined from time to time.

Environment:

This is an exciting time for the whole treatment system in Drugs and Alcohol services in Bristol as we are in the process of recommissioning and considering new developments and structures to further improve our already dynamic service.

The post holder(s) would be a key part of the psychology team, along with a Band 8a clinical psychologist, a team of 4 Assistant Psychologists, and a specialist nurse.
