We have an opportunity for an enthusiastic Clinical or Counselling Psychologist to join our supportive and highly skilled Community Perinatal Team working in the Bath and North East Somerset, Wiltshire and Swindon (BSW) area.This post would suit someone with established perinatal skills or someone interested in developing their skills and knowledge of working with complex presentations within a Perinatal context.We therefore welcome applications from experienced Psychologists and those who are either recently qualified or due to qualify soon, who may be appointed at a band 7 on a Preceptorship basis.

The BSW Community Perinatal team offers multi disciplinary care to families in the perinatal period (through pregnancy and up to a year postnatally). You would be providing specialist psychological assessments and interventions for often complex presenting problems, giving consideration to the mother-baby relationship and liaising with colleagues within the team as well as those in other mental health and maternity teams. Interventions are delivered using a blend of remote and face to face work. Clinical work will include individual, group and indirect work. Specialist supervision will be provided and there will be ample opportunities for the development of clinical skills. We also have good links to the Bath and Bristol training courses and offer clinical placements.

Main duties of the job

To provide highly specialist psychological assessment and therapy to patients and carers as appropriate to the service.

To provide highly specialist advice and consultation on clients' formulation and psychological management to other non-psychologist colleagues.

To use highly specialist psychological knowledge and skills to contribute to the more effective management of patients by the various teams in the area and where appropriate outside of the area.

To clinically supervise trainee clinical psychologists, assistant psychologists, less experienced psychology staff, and other professionals.

To contribute to audit, research, policy and service development within the areas served by the Psychological Therapies Service.

To develop and deliver training in psychological therapies for multidisciplinary staff

To be responsible for providing a range of psychological interventions for individuals, carers and groups, within and across teams employed individually and in synthesis, adjusting and refining psychological formulations drawing upon different explanatory models and maintaining a number of provisional hypotheses.

To provide at least one specialist evidence based psychological intervention as dictated by the needs of the service

To provide highly specialist consultation to members of the various teams in the area and beyond regarding formulation and psychological management of clients of those teams.

To use highly specialist psychological knowledge and skills to contribute to the more effective management of patients by teams.

To be involved in the development and delivery of training within the Trust

To participate in clinical and caseload supervision arrangements provided by the Service.

To maintain accurate records and to monitor clinical workload using agreed systems.

To support the full implementation of CPA or equivalent including acting as care co-ordinator as appropriate to the needs of the service .
