Job summary
Due to a recent review of Safer Staffing Levels for Sycamore ward, we are looking for highly motivated registered mental health nurse to join the experienced friendly team here in Bath, on our adults of working age admission and treatment ward.
Sycamore Ward is situated within the building of Hillview Lodge, which in turn is situated in the Grounds of The Royal United Hospital. Sycamore Ward is a mixed gender ward and offers care to service users with a serious mental illness who are in crisis.
The Sycamore team focus is on improving standards of care and developing the in patient service in conjunction with the existing wider service and Multi-Disciplinary team. As such, we are looking for a Registered Nurse at Band 5. We welcome applications from newly qualified registered nurses, experienced nurses and those students that will be soon to qualify in the next year. We have an excellent preceptor package to support newly qualified nurses.

Main duties of the job
We work alongside BANES Intensive support team, BANES Recovery support team, BANES Early Intervention team , who are all based on site. We have a very good working relationship with these teams, which assists in optimizing the service user's care pathway.We have an established culture of inter team working which offers people who work on the site diverse experience and learning opportunities.We are also very proud of our service user involvement in the development of our services.We have a service user involvement worker who promotes involvement at every level of our service provision. We welcome service users and carers to help shape the services, and bring a positive dimension to ward environment.We work along side St Mungos Charity, and have a very active move on worker on the ward from St Mungos. This role helps service users with benefits and housing. The ward can also access support from the St Mungos peer mentor service which can offer a short term wrap round service at the point of discharge.Alongside this, you will be working on shifts with occupational therapists. This has been a successful innovation and incidences of aggression has decreased as a result of increased occupation and therapeutic activity. As a team, we are also proud to promote Safe wards for all on the ward, and have an activity worker that promotes engagement with the service users through mutual help meetings, and activities both on and off the ward.
