Job summary
The Pathfinder Forensic Personality Disorder Service is looking to recruit a highly motivated, experienced Clinical Psychologist to join their established team. Pathfinder is a tertiary level multidisciplinary service for individuals with a primary diagnosis of personality disorder (PD) within Secure Services across the South West. It is located at Blackberry Hill Hospital, Bristol and is part of the South West Provider Collaborative which commissions adult secure services in the South West region.
The Service is part of Secure Local Delivery Unit within AWP NHS Trust and has close working links with the Community Offender Personality Disorder (OPD) Pathway Service and Nexus OPD Pathway Service at HMP Eastwood Park.
The main responsibilities of the Service are to:
- Carry out gatekeeping assessments of service users with a primary diagnosis of PD who are referred for a secure in-patient admission
- Oversee care pathway management of the clinical cohort who are admitted to secure services across the South West Region (and beyond for Out Of Area placements)
- Provide specialist clinical advice and recommendations to the NHS England case managers about the most appropriate care pathway for an individual
- Support secure services teams to work with these service users through consultation, training and clinical supervision
Main duties of the job
You would work under the leadership and supervision of a Principal Clinical Psychologist and the main responsibilities would be:
- Providing highly specialist assessment and formulation
- Offering psychologically-informed guidance and consultation on care pathway management for this clinical group to colleagues and stakeholders across the region
- Engaging in audit, evaluation and service improvement
- Providing clinical supervision within the team
- Designing and delivering training to staff across the region

The post-holder should have a relevant qualification with some clinical experience of working with people with personality disorder in a forensic setting. Experience of systemic working would be advantageous.
