Job summary

Providing a primary care mental health service, withsupervision, to those adults who reside in BANES, Swindon & Wilts. The service offers a stepped care, rapid response to a range of mental health issues focusing on the social context, using brief cognitive-behavioural and other NICE Guideline IAPT approved approaches. To act as senior practitioner to a number of primary care mental health practitioners.

Main duties of the job

An opportunity has arisen to join the Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) services covering across BANES, Swindon and Wilts in an LTC role

The successful candidate will provide one to one and group high intensity CBT within a stepped care model for adults with common mental health problems, including depression and a range of anxiety disorders. We are looking for someone with energy, enthusiasm, and a high level of skills and experience. All staff will work as part of a team, receive regular clinical supervision and be able to access a high quality in-house CPD programme. The role involves line management and clinical supervision.

Candidates must be willing to work a minimum of one evening per week and provide supervision and line management to other members in the team.

There is the opportunity for some remote working within this post.

Job responsibilities

ClinicalTo allocate approximately 50% of time to clinical work to include the delivery of psychological interventions.

To offer a highly specialist psychological assessment and treatment service using relevant qualifications to patients living in designated area.

To support the full implementation of the IAPT programme where appropriate.

To provide clinical supervision and consultancy to trainees and sector staff with regard to problem assessment and formulation, and therapy interventions.

To participate in clinical supervision and caseload supervision arrangements provided by the Psychology Service.

To provide an advanced and specialist treatment role in the sector, usingevidence based treatments for patients presenting with complex and severe needs.

To provide an advanced and specialist psychological assessment role in thesector.

ProfessionalTo fully observe the relevant professional practice guidelines and code of conduct.

To participate in Psychology Service business and professional meetings.

To support managers and the Head of Primary Care Psychology in the Development and implementation of effective Clinical Governance across the Psychology Service.

To promote the use of effective interventions in the Service.

Training and Staff Development

To supervise high Intensity trainees, providing group and individual therapy.

To offer training in a range of psychological approaches to healthcare to other staff in the Multi-disciplinary team and to staff from other parts of the service.

To agree a plan for personal development with the Primary Care line manager and participate in an annual review.

Service Development

To advise relevant managers and the Head of Primary Care Psychology Services, about service priorities and potential developments in the sector.
