Job summary
TheSpecialist Community Perinatal Mental Health Team are looking for a Nursery Nurse to join the team [this is a fixed term post to cover maternity leave].
The team provides support for women/birthing people who experience serious mental health problems in pregnancy and the postnatal period. Central to the nursery nurse role is supporting the parent-infant relationship through a variety of interventions. This is a creative role where you will work in close collaboration with colleagues and the families on your caseload to provide responsive nursery nurse care which is appropriate to the needs of the family at that time. You will be supported in this by the other Nursery Nurse in the team, a parent-infant specialist and our parent-infant psychotherapist.
This is an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic multi-disciplinary team. The team has a shared care ethos and you will also be working closely with primary care, maternity services, adult mental health teams, early years' services and independent sector organisations.
You will be provided with the opportunity to develop your skill set through specialist perinatal mental health training, with additionalopportunities for further and ongoing specialist training.
The service covers Bristol, North Somerset & South Gloucestershire (BNSSG) and home visiting is an essential aspect of the role. Delivery of group interventions is also part of the nursery nurse role which you will be involved in developing.
Main duties of the job
Provide Nursery Nurse specific perinatal support to women on the caseload.
Provide information/guidance support with antenatal preparation
Attachment/Bonding work
Specific interventions eg VIG, baby massage.
Advice and support on practical baby care.

Essential
- Qualification in BTEC level 3 Diploma in Early Years OR CACHE Diploma in Child care and Education, Level 3 (2 year course) OR NVQ/SNVQ level 3 in Early Years and Education Or ? NNEB Diploma
- Up to date with current child care practice as recommended by the Department of Health, and ability to teach service and other staff
- Demonstrates an understanding of how mental health issues can affect people
- Good organisational skills and time management ability
- Good communication skills
- To hold a current driving license and have access to vehicle for work purposes
Desirable
- Working with other Professionals particularly with regard to Safeguarding issues
