Job summary
This opportunity within our South West Gambling Services will have links and liaison with our subcontractor Intuitive Thinking who will be building recovery, networks and communities for service users who have been through our service and maybe working with our third sector partners such as Ara.
This post will be working within a multidisciplinary team, working closely with service users, volunteers and colleagues to help support recovery from gambling harms and other vulnerabilities. The post holder will take an active part within this team and help shape this new and innovative service.
Main duties of the job
This role is focussed on providing appropriate, effective interventions and treatments to
people with problematic gambling behaviour and their carers (including friends and relatives) and their supporters in the community, enabling and assisting them to meet daily health, social care and well-being needs, in line with personal recovery goals, and facilitating engagement with mainstream services.
The Support and Recovery Lead will provide information, advice, support, and encouragement to current service users in contact with the South West Gambling service acting as a role model and utilising their life experiences to facilitate engagement and recovery.
They will support and take a leadership role in collaboration with Intuitive Thinking in the recruitment of the Peer Support Volunteer cohort, be responsible for the matching process and support the development and supervision requirements of the volunteers and apprentices working alongside and being the link into our contractor, Intuitive Thinking. They will also be responsible for the daily management of the Peer Support Volunteers, apprentice and their supervision.

- oEducated to degree level, professional or vocational qualification (eg NVQ, RMN, CQSW etc) in health and social care subjects or equivalent level of knowledge and/or practical experience of working in a health or social care setting.
- oLived experience of people with health or social care needs
- oThe ability to form and sustain a trusting relationship with service users/carers and Peer Mentors.
- oWell- developed listening skills and effective verbal communication skills to be able to engage appropriately with service users, carers, and colleagues, statutory and voluntary agencies, both face to face and by phone.
- oWritten communication skills, with the ability to produce written reports, maintain accurate records and establish statistical data.
- oThe ability, with supervision, to manage own workload in an effective and timely manner.
- oDemonstrate ability to use initiative appropriately, making decisions within the guidelines set.
- oAble to demonstrate a general understanding of working knowledge of the harms caused by problem gambling such as domestic abuse, financial and social issues iwith a positive non-judgemental approach towards people within the Gambling Harms service.
- oDemonstrate well developed written communication skills, with the ability to produce letters, written reports, maintain accurate records and record required statistical information.
